My Story

Hello and welcome, I’m so glad you’re here.

As an artist, I work in sculptures, paintings, and installations that study the relationship between humanity and other living organisms and how those subjects change as they encounter one another.  I am fascinated by the natural world and find that the beauty of it informs and feeds much of my practice.  My work is often characterized by themes such as nurture, growth and decay, and impermanence.

As a mother of three young children, my daily practice is softening myself to the small delights of life and paying attention to the vulnerabilities of another.  I love that being a mother has caused me to slow down and pay closer attention to the “insignificant” pleasures such as laying in the sunshine in the grass, holding a caterpillar in your hand, or watching a seed sprout into a robust plant.

I believe my current work reflects a mind and heart that has been forced to adapt in every way over the last 6 years. My children have influenced and shaped every aspect of my work and my interests, which practically has looked like me welcoming more unpredictability in my brushmarks, relinquishing control in technique, and being more playful in my style. I find that my creative practice is a direct reflection of my interior space as a mother. The work I am creating now is more about discovering my way as I go, searching to bring about balance and composition, and pulling beauty and meaning out of the chaos.

Aside from my work as an artist, I find creativity in daily life with my sweet family; sourdough, cooking, gardening, and lots and lots of time making messes with my little ones.

You can usually find me barefoot in our backyard, babes in tow, finding beauty in everything.

I currently call Winston Salem, NC home and love the simple life my husband and I are building in this community here.
